NileTESOL Conference 2020...
Become a Mentor
The Regional English Language Office (RELO) at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and NileTESOL are organizing the fourth annual Mentor Training in which participants will learn how to develop and mentor teachers who teach the following stages; KG 1&2 and Primary 1. U.S. Department of State English Language Specialist Adrienne Johnson, an expert in preparing and mentoring early learning teachers, will facilitate these sessions.
Over the eight full days of professional development, participants will develop an understanding of the importance and potential of mentoring for the development and growth of all educators and practice using appropriate mentoring tools and skills. They will also discuss strategies for successfully working in their governorate.
Through this program, participants will enhance their ability to:
- evaluate lesson goals, plans and curricula.
- encourage students’ oral language development.
- provide teachers with constructive feedback.
- support teachers in self-reflection and professional growth.
- mentor teachers in data-driven reflection of teaching.
Following the professional development, participants will be expected to mentor colleagues in their own communities for at least one year during which they will receive feedback and incentives. For more information on eligibility and application, visit this link. The flyer is HERE.
